Born from a military mindset, our coaching approach brings calm structure rather than rigid rules. We take the principles of discipline, consistency, and preparation and translate them into personalised training that works in the real world. Your training plan is clear without feeling overwhelming, with each week building gently but purposefully on the last. You will always know what matters most, where to focus, and how each session supports your race goal.

Over time, steady, sustainable habits become real confidence. By race day, you do not feel drilled, you feel ready, grounded, and quietly sure of what you can do.

Ian McCaul

Ian left the regular military in 2021 after nearly nine years of service. A strong runner and cyclist who had passed some of the most physically demanding courses the Army has to offer, Ian went all in on cycling. As a newly qualified Level 3 Personal Trainer, Ian applied structure and discipline to his training, progressing to compete in National B and National A road races. As a current Reservist Officer, Ian continues to represent the Army and Combined Armed Forces Road Cycling Team.

In endurance coaching, Ian brings the best of his military experience, planning, consistency, accountability and applies it in a way that supports rather than overwhelms. Ian builds clear, progressive programmes, with each training block shaped by performance data and your feedback. The result is training that builds resilience, confidence, and a calm readiness for race day which, done right, is almost as enjoyable and satisfying as the event itself.

As a Level 3 Personal Trainer, he applies sound strength and conditioning principles to help cyclists, runners and triathletes stay robust, move well, and perform better in their chosen discipline.

Ian applies many endurance training principles to general fitness training: structure, patience and consistency will always deliver the most rewarding results. No quick fixes here. No before and after photos. Just enjoyable progressive programming that makes you feel better!

Calum O’Connor

Calum grew up on the edge of the Peak District, just south of Manchester, where his passion for cycling took hold. With over 20 years of racing experience across the UK and France, he has competed at the highest domestic level and understands firsthand what it takes to perform on and off the bike.

After racing for the University of Edinburgh, Calum joined the Royal Navy, combining helicopter flying with racing for the Royal Navy Cycling Team. This ignited his interest in training science and performance, eventually leading him to full-time Elite racing in France.

His results include National Elite stage wins, Coupe de France podiums, and a top-20 GC finish at the 2024 UCI Tour of Mauritius. He also races e-cycling for Wahoo Le Col in the Zwift Elite Grand Prix, using select events and longer rides to maintain fitness through the off-season.

A Level 3 Cycling Coach and member of the Association of British Cycling Coaches, Calum has spent seven years coaching Elite, national-level, and everyday cyclists, including athletes on the Army Women’s and Men’s Cycling Teams, helping riders of all abilities build performance, fitness, and confidence. A self-confessed data geek, he turns complex metrics into practical, personalised gains.

Calum’s coaching is built on individualised, evidence-based training. He tailors every programme to the athlete’s unique physiology, including female cyclists returning from injury or navigating perimenopause and menopause, integrating the hormone cycle into training design. One-size-fits-all plans don’t work. Every programme reflects the athlete in front of him.
